Frequently asked questions
Find answers for production teams and renters booking classic and specialty cars, and for owners listing vehicles on PhotoWhips. Each topic below covers what most people ask before getting started.
Getting started & account
How do I sign up for PhotoWhips?
Create a free account on our sign-up page. You can join to book cars for shoots and events, or to list vehicles as an owner. If you do both, use one account and manage everything from your dashboard.
Is there a fee to create an account?
No. Signing up is free. PhotoWhips does not charge a transaction fee to list a car or to contact owners and request bookings.
What is the difference between a car owner account and a renter?
Owners list vehicles, set rates and rules, and respond to booking requests. Renters and production teams browse listings, send booking requests, and message owners. Your profile can support either flow depending on what you need.
Do I need to confirm my email?
Yes. We send a confirmation link to verify your email during signup. If you do not see it, check spam or promotions folders.
Is there a PhotoWhips mobile app?
Yes. Native iOS and Android apps are in production, with App Store and Google Play availability targeted for Q4 2026. In the meantime, PhotoWhips works well in your mobile browser for browsing, bookings, and messages.
For renters & productions
How do I find cars for a photo shoot, film, or event?
Browse the cars gallery to explore listings. When you share location, we may show approximate distance from you to help you choose vehicles that fit your logistics.
How does booking work?
Open a listing you like and start a booking request. You and the owner coordinate dates, location, and usage details through messages and the booking flow. Final terms are agreed between you and the owner.
Can the photographer or talent drive the car?
Owners set the rules for each vehicle. Many bookings use the car as a static prop without driving. Always confirm who may operate the vehicle, insurance, and any special requirements with the owner before the shoot.
What about insurance and liability?
Owners and renters should maintain appropriate insurance and discuss coverage before the rental. Requirements vary by production; we recommend agreeing on responsibilities and documenting key terms with the owner.
What if the car does not run or needs to be towed?
Logistics are negotiated with the owner. Some shoots tow or transport vehicles to set. Read the listing and ask whether trailer-only or prop-only use is available.
For car owners
How do I list my car?
Sign in, open your dashboard, and add a vehicle with photos, description, location, and rental rate. Publish when the listing is complete so renters can find you.
What should I put in my listing?
Use clear photos, accurate year/make/model, location, pricing, and house rules—for example whether the car may be driven, trailered only, or mileage limits. Clear listings reduce back-and-forth and attract serious inquiries.
How do I edit, pause, or remove a listing?
Manage vehicles from your dashboard. You can update details and photos anytime, or deactivate a listing when you are not accepting bookings.
How do renters contact me?
Renters reach you through the platform’s messages and booking requests. Responding promptly helps productions plan around your schedule.
What fees does PhotoWhips charge owners?
Listing is free and PhotoWhips does not take a transaction fee. Refer to current site policies for any updates.
Push notifications & account settings
What are push notifications used for?
They can alert you to messages, booking activity, and other time-sensitive updates so you are less likely to miss requests while you are away from email.
How do I turn on push notifications?
Sign in, go to Dashboard → Account settings, enable push in your profile, and allow notifications when your browser prompts you. Mobile Safari and some browsers may require installing the site to the home screen or additional steps for full push support.
Can I turn push notifications off?
Yes. Disable them in Account settings at any time. We may still send important service email or in-app notices when required.
Fees, policies & support
Does PhotoWhips charge a fee on each rental?
PhotoWhips does not charge a transaction fee for listing or booking through the platform. How you and the other party handle payment is part of your direct agreement and applicable policies.
Where is your privacy policy?
Our Privacy policy is linked in the footer on every page.
How do I get help?
Use the Contact page or the support options in the footer. We can help with account access, listings, and general questions about using PhotoWhips.
What if weather affects my shoot?
Weather and reschedule rules are between you and the other party. Many owners set expectations up front—confirm rain dates or cancellations before shoot day.
